Avio capability

Avio capability in Marine applications stems from its experience on the wider aeronautical field. In fact, Avio is usually involved in development programmes for commercial and military aircraft engines mainly for what concerns the Turbine, mechanical transmissions (power and auxiliaries drive train) and space propulsion programmes (solid and cryogenic propulsion).

Avio co-operates as Revenue Sharing Partner or supplier with all the main aeronautic industries (GE, PW, PWC, Honeywell, RR, SNECMA, MTU, Boeing, MDD, Aerospatiale, Dasa and Alenia).
Avio is also involved in several development programmes on a European basis together with the most important universities and research centres.

Scope of supply

Avio usually takes the responsibility for supplying the whole propulsion system package. This includes the GT module (engine, base and enclosure) and the engine auxiliaries such as the lube oil system, fuel supply system, starting system, fire fighting system, compressor washing system, ventilation and air intake silencers and filters.
Typical Avio supply also includes all the technical support to the final assembly, strictly in correlation with the shipyard needs, quality assurance as well as all the activities to guarantee the correctness and best capability of the system supplied.

Production

Avio is directly involved in the production of LM2500 and LM 6000 engine components. Furthermore, Avio provides the final assembly of LM propulsion modules together with Base, supports, flexible joints and duct, piping and enclosure.

After Sales services

For many years, Company activities have been strongly focused on Customer Satisfaction and, therefore, great attention is given to comments and observations in order to improve the after-sales service, and up-date the product according to customer needs.
The Marine product is a very elaborate one, and very well suited for the “on condition“ maintenance concept rather than a Fixed Time Between Intervention philosophy.

The “on condition” requires an advanced and efficient Engine monitoring system, a corrective on-board maintenance that is easily implemented, also for the components changeout and, of course, a highly reliable product. With this aim, Avio is working on the up-to-date “On line Engine condition monitoring” (ISIS - In Service Information System).

There is no need to point out that also the on-board personnel must be skilfully qualified in order to carry out required procedures. Avio offers a highly qualified training centre in its Brindisi facility, along with a workshop in which every type of maintenance operation can be performed. A very modern test cell provides for the testing of the engines after refurbishment.

In addition to the above, Avio Customers can rely on the experience and support of highly skilled personnel, and on technical publications that are continuously updated.
